Visas

Paperwork is no fun. 4 copies of everything is even less fun.

However, fun is imagining what life might be like in the next 3 months. We’ve never been to Africa. It was actually last on our list of continents we desired to live. However, as time rolled on and we turned down other jobs, Nigeria sort of stood out to us as something we’d never experience unless we just took a step of faith and tried it. Who knows, maybe we’ll hate it. But just maybe we’ll fall in love.

It’s enough hope to make filling out visa paperwork worth it.

Welp, …

Here we go, another blog.  The only time we (I) start a blog is when our family is about to embark on another adventure.  First it was Korea, then the Philippines.  When people first found/find out that we took teaching jobs in Nigeria, the most common reaction is, “Wow, that’s very exciting and different.  Why do you want to do it?”  It’s a natural enough response.  Sometimes I’ll get the token “I’d love to do that” response or “You’re so brave” or something similar.

Well, you know how when you start to be asked a question over and over, and eventually you just fall into the routine of giving the same answer to everyone?  My standard answer to the ‘why?’ question is this: there’s just too much world out there.  We have a hard time sitting still because we love the exploration and the learning experience of having our worldviews expanded.

So yep, we’re going to Africa in July.  And nope, this isn’t an April fool’s joke.
